This year, the Sacandaga School PTA decided to give our teachers a makeover of their Teacher Lounge, as a gift for Teacher Appreciation Week. Since the project was so involved, it was held off until this summer so there would be time to complete it.
The PTA allocated some funds for this project but the rest has come from donations by Sacandaga families. These donations allowed us to do much more with the room than we had originally anticipated. We were able to repair crumbling plaster, repaint the room (and adjoining bathroom), install new flooring, cabinets, and countertops, replace the stove and a microwave, add a convection toaster oven. recover the chairs, and add a valence to the window. We also strived to simply add a little cheer to the room.
Our teachers and staff dedicate so much of themselves to our children; we feel that they deserve a place where they can really relax during their (very short!) lunch break. We are very happy with the results.
